Alison Schroeder, LICSW
(she/her)
Alison Schroeder is the owner and director of Creative Coping. A practicing therapist since 2008, Alison has trained in numerous therapy specialties and previously taught in the MSW program at Salem State University. Currently, her focus is on supporting adults, especially moms, as they juggle the intense demands of midlife, family, career, and community. She also provides parent education and support to many Creative Coping families, and has created a unique curriculum for parents who are struggling to cope with their kids' severe meltdowns and disruptive behaviors.
Alison says, “My goal is to provide the right amount of support and reflection so that my clients gain the clarity, insight, and confidence they need to lead their lives with calm, intention and purpose. I enjoy teaching specific coping skills such as boundary setting, assertive communication, cognitive reframing, and mindfulness, but I am also a patient listener who knows how to hold space for fear, sadness, and grief without judgement or advice. As a parent in midlife, I find that I'm personally walking the same path as many of my clients, which helps me offer compassion and insight.”
