Tom Culora, MHC

(he/him)

As a seasoned clinician with a wide range of life experiences, Tom helps clients build resilience and navigate life's challenges. He has particular experience working with people struggling to navigate the multiple demands of midlife, such as high-pressure work environments and to adapt during stressful life transitions. Tom says, “I believe people thrive when they are connected to their authentic selves and are willing to reflect honestly on their own humanity.”

Tom’s extensive background in leadership informs his work with executives, managers, and others experiencing the particular stress and identity questions that come with leading others. Also, drawing on his own roots in the creative arts, he brings a distinct understanding of the challenges and rewards faced by artists, performers, and other creative professionals.

Tom’s therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic principles, as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT aims to develop and expand psychological flexibility, which encompasses emotional openness, acceptance, and the ability to adapt one’s thoughts and behaviors to better align with our values and goals.

Tom says, “Navigating the complexities of career, family, loss, identity, and community can feel overwhelming in today’s fast-paced world. I see therapy as a collaborative partnership: my role is to guide clients in increasing self-awareness, identifying effective strategies for change, and supporting them in creating a life aligned with their own values.”
